Review as well as customer feedback for LCD TV and External Hard disk

I suggest samung. I do have it, 40” with 1 TB external HDD connected to it.  Its really great!! AFAIK Samsung is really doing good and has overtaken the sony’s market.
Reg, external HDD. Yeah, in Ritchie st you will get, quality will be good and it’s the same piece even you buy in croma but I think you don’t need to go to Ritchie street for this alone. You can get it from Mercy electronics, the price is almost same except 50 to 100 rs diff when compared to ritche st . I bought the 1 TB seagate from ritche st for 3.5K in dec’10.

Note: if the purpose of HDD is to connect to LCD, then you should buy externally  powered one. Inline power which is called passport model is not supported. TV will support the inline powered not more than 8 GB.

Sansui would be cheaper than other models..
I’m not sure about the quality of the picture..also no one is using it in my friends/family circle.

My view would be.. SONY vs OtherBrands [LG,Samsung and etc]
If you are going for otherbrands..pls check for the prize and features that it supports

LCD - LG  (model LD650 )  ->AFAIK this is a great model in all aspects

Features supported: [to be checked in other models]:
Picture quality-1080 full HD, True motion(100Hz/200Hz), External USB hard disk support, it can play all video formats including mkv files, WiFi , Direct Internet access(youtube, picassa and etc..) via Ethernet), Optical Audio out

1. Please can you suggest me a good LCD 32” TV. Sansui cost is low but I heard the quality is not good. Please can you suggest me some good brands and what features to be checked.

2. Also, please can you suggest me a 1TB External Hard Disk. If we buy it in Ritchie street, heard the price is low but how is the quality. If in Ritchie street please can you give me some contacts.

I bought 2TB Seagate external HDD with 3yrs Seagate warranty for 6.3k in eBay.

Shop will be in full of crowd most of the times. So it's better to go when there's no crowd.

Let me know for any help.

U can go for Seagate in any shop, (shop near odc3 mercy electronics) 6.5K for 1 Tb approx.

1. 32” LCD TV is small especially for bigger rooms. Features to look for Full HD (Not just HD ready), Contrast Ratio (Higher the better), USB access (Useful when u download movies and watch. I just connect my Ext Drive to TV and it automatically detects Movies/Photos/Music and plays all format including DivX), No of Ports (Need atleast 2 AVI and 2-3 HDMI because new set top boxes and DVD players have HDMI which is better clarity), 100Hz/200Hz/500Hz is really not needed only for fast moving pictures like sports but it is a plus.
Other additions if you really use is having a wireless HDMI access (may be too much to ask), directly connecting LAN port to TV for Youtube and specific website access etc. I haven’t used these features in my TV.
LCD TV Brands – LG, Samsung, Sony, Probably Panasonic.
Look for latest models and features. Usually shops like Croma, Reliance Digital, Viveks advertise a lot of low prices but models may be older. You can enquire prices in multiple places and finally go to the company owned store itself, bargain and get a cheaper deal than all the above guys. Usually company stores only have latest models and not  even 6 months old.
LG is cheapest of the lot and contrary to belief they are a cheaper brand I found them much better with features and service. (Features were better than Sony and Panasonic but were less than Samsung. Havent got any repairs till now). Just for protection I bought the 3 extra years unlimited protection that includes panel also. Myself and my friend bought LG 42” and 47” respectively and working fine for 1-2 yrs now. Look / Bargain for deals like Free DVD player and Free Airtel or other HD DTH.  The cheapest store selling LG was in T Nagar a small LG Shoppe in Panagal park before Tanishq. Reliance Digital and Tata Croma have good collection and bargains but may have slightly older models say 6 months to 1 yr old. But they were really discounting and if all features you require are there you should try these 2 stores also.
2. External Harddisk – Any Seagate or Western Digital would do. If you are time constrained just get it from Mercy Vadapalani. (In Arcot Road towards Kodambakkam left side after Post office)
Usually I go to a shop called Delta Computers in Ritchie street (heard by word of mouth from many guys as cheapest and one of the biggies). Have been going there for almost 12 years now. They also used to have home delivery if paying by cash on delivery.

I recently got some enclosures (to salvage data my >10 yr old HDD) and 2 320GB Seagate from them in Dec.
